We stumbled upon this unexpected gem while walking back to our hotel from the historic district of Todos Santos. It was the distinct smell of woodfired pizza that lured Thomas to the outdoor restaurant. Ever since we learned to make “authentic” pizza in an outdoor woodfire oven years ago with our Sicilian friend’s family in Sicily, Thomas has become a bit of a pizza snob. Pizzeria romantica lives up to his high standards. The Italian chef and owner (whose day job is as an anthropologist) manages to bring a bit of Italy to baja masterfully employing locally sourced fresh ingredients to create an “authentic” Italian pizza experience.
The staff is incredibly friendly and interesting to talk with. Our server (a Mexican-American surfer) who happened to speak French, gave us the low-down on local life in Todos Santos and we all got to practice our Franglishspanish. If you’re in Todos Santos long enough to take a break from street tacos, try out Pizzeria Romantica. You’ll leave with a full belly and plenty of inspiration for what to hit up during your Todos Santos stay.
