If you are visiting the Loire Vallée, make sure to stop by the Abbaye de Fontevraud. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, built in the 11th century, the abbaye was transformed into a prison circa Napoléon Bonaparte and has been gradually restored since the 1960s. Today it is a hotel, restaurant and concert hall.
The restaurant is well worth a stop. In an area where finding good food is not hard, we are sure you will not regret the little detour.
Like most Michelin starred restaurants, the experience begins long before the food is on the table. Here, the walls of the dining hall, the decoration and the herbs grown in the garden nestled among the tables had us charmed well before we enjoyed the fixed price degustation menu.
